Snow Days

I used to think snow days were awesome. I never had them until I moved to Tennessee. Yesterday was not my first snow day, but it was the worst snow day. School closed at noon. Professors started letting students out at 11:30. I live less than 30 minutes from school and yet it took me 3 hours to get home because of how bad traffic was.

While I was hanging around, waiting, I sent my mom a text to which she replied “call me.” I did and found out my grandmother had taken a turn for the worse. A few hours later she went home to be with God. Rest her soul. I’m going to miss her.

I’m trying to think this has nothing to do with the snow days, but I think of everything that happened since yesterday and how unusual the timing seems. We got another snow day today and due to the late start of classes tomorrow, the test I had scheduled in one of my classes has been pushed back a week and that class has been cancelled. This allows me to leave earlier than I planned.

There is also time that for me at work is being used tomorrow when I had originally planned to use it later in May.

I’ve often heard and said things happen on God’s time, not ours. With everything that occurred this week, I believe it.

Sunday night before I went to bed, I prayed over the possibility of going to a book fair in May. To do what I wanted would have cost me a lot of money, but as things play out this week, I’m beginning to reconsider what I believed was the way to go.
